Alpaca API Setup

Connect your Alpaca brokerage account to SimpleAITrade in a few simple steps. Your funds stay with Alpaca at all times.

1. Create or log in to your Alpaca account. Visit the official Alpaca website and sign in.
2. Navigate to API Keys. In your Alpaca dashboard, go to the section where you can create new API keys.
3. Create a new key. Generate an API key and secret. Choose the appropriate permissions (data-only or trading-enabled) depending on how you want to use SimpleAITrade.
4. Copy your key and secret. Keep them secure. Do not share your secret key by email or chat.
5. Go to the API connection section in SimpleAITrade. Inside your SimpleAITrade account, open the API connection settings.
6. Paste your key and secret. Enter the API key and secret into the fields provided and save.
7. Confirm connection. Once connected, you will see your account status and basic information (such as buying power and positions, depending on permissions).
8. Adjust your automation preferences. Choose whether SimpleAITrade can:
   • Only read data and suggest trades, or
   • Send trade orders to Alpaca within your rules.

You can revoke or rotate your API keys at any time from your Alpaca dashboard. If you do so, remember to update your keys in SimpleAITrade to continue using the platform.
